Denver adventures: gathering materials

Hello world,

We’ve arrived in Denver (on the 5th of May)  after a day-long drive from Richmond, Indiana.

We visited our friends at Trailer Made, a local business near by Abby’s house. Our trailer is ready to go and will arrive shortly, delivered for free once their company truck returns. ETA=TBD.

After a few days of relaxation after a long drive we got down to business.

Yesterday, we went to Habitat for Humanity and picked up our first 3 windows, 2 bar-stools (see below, but in green) and a sink.

Today, we visited a carpenter and checked out his huge selection of beautiful wood. We learned a lot about our options and can plan for a more specific order. We saw some beautiful cherry wood, oak, maple and walnut.

The fancy one on the right is way out of our price range but we’ve got a better sense of how creative we can get with wood and stain and sanding. 🙂  [he also told us about this great website that can allow our creativity to really become a reality… :)]

Abby’s calculating all the framing materials we’ll need!

We are soon off to Home Depot to pick up framing wood. We’ve scoured the internet and realized that for our needs, the time it would take to logistically pick up all the re-purposed stud material to accommodate our needs would waste more time than purchasing new wood from the store for a slightly larger price.

The next-first step will be assembling our frame.

Stay tuned for photos and videos.

A big thank you to our latest supporters on our GoFundme page: Stephen Kling, Leslie Abbott, Patty McMurray and Holly Widdowfield. With your support we will be able to build a structurally sound, and environmentally aware tiny house on wheels.

Thank you! We appreciate your support!

With love and excitement,

Abby & Lily
